NEW CIMIC SPECIALISTS QUALIFIED

The Multinational CIMIC Group (MNCG) has developed the training offer for civil-military cooperation in line with NATO standards

Motta di Livenza, 21st May, 2021.

From 10 to 21 May 2021, the Multinational CIMIC Group (MNCG), the joint and combined unit specialized in civil-military cooperation, organized and conducted the NATO CIMIC Field and Staff Worker courses.
The aim of the courses, held concurrently, was to enable 27 participants, from the civilian world and from all the Armed Forces, to carry out the tasks related to the planning and conduct part of CIMIC activities in modern operational scenarios.
The course structure, planned to comply with the government provisions for the reduction of CoViD-19 contagion, allowed students to carry out the first two modules via e-learning and the residential phase in Motta di Livenza, at the Mario Fiore barracks.
The course, based on an in-depth analysis of the professional profile, objectives and responsibilities of the CIMIC Operator, includes a first common week, characterized by the explanation of the NATO doctrine, the deepening typical aspects of the civil environment, the negotiation, the empathic communication and the sharing of field experiences and intercultural skills, topics, the latter, addressed by several guest speakers including Colonel Mattia Zuzzi, Multinational CIMIC Group Commander, who gave a lecture on CIMIC centers and his experience during the “Antica Babilonia” operation in Iraq.
During the second week, however, the course is divided into two parts; one dedicated to the operators on the ground (Field), the other reserved for personnel assigned to work within a staff (Staff) and is developed on role plays and practical simulations with increasing difficulty.
During the training modules, several guest speakers from International, Governmental and Non-Governmental Organizations supported the courses by connecting from different areas of the world, from Canada to Greece, from Germany to Uganda.
The residential phase was centered on a live exercise based on a fictitious scenario related to the Horn of Africa, one of the operational theaters in which the operators of the Multinational CIMIC Group are deployed. The activity, based on a complex crisis of a failed state, involved civil authorities, religious and cultural associations of the Marca Trevigiana as actors and role players in order to have an educational output closer to the reality of operational uses.
