OUTLINED THE FUTURE OF THE MNCG

The Coordinating Committee brought together representatives of the six Participating Nations, from Lisbon to Bucharest

On 30 March 2021, the six-monthly Coordination Committee (CC), composed by 6 Participating Nations (PNs) representatives of the Multinational CIMIC Group (MNCG), i.e. Greece, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia and Hungary, met by videoconference to discuss the unit's future guidelines and commitments.
The main focus of the CC this time was on the revision of the MNCG Operational Concept, the re-modulation of the training offer and the international commitments of the unit over the next three years within the Atlantic Alliance. In this regard, the representatives of the PNs agreed on the timing of the NATO Combat Readiness Evaluation (CREVAL) which will commit the MNCG in the second half of 2021. Every year, in fact, the unit provides promptly deployable assets for the Atlantic Alliance needs through the basins of the NATO Response Force (NRF) and the Joint Rapid Reaction Forces (JRRF).
Regarding the seminars and conferences topic, the attention has been focused on the next CIMIC Units Commanders' Conference that will take place from 13th to 16th September 2021 at the location of Villa Manin (Passariano, UD) and will be attended by members of International and Non-Governmental Organisations from all over the world, as well as the presence of qualified guest speakers who will have lectures on the theme ''Effective Leadership: Competencies and Talents for successful CIMIC/CMI interface''', identified in close coordination with the Supreme Headquarters Powers in Europe.
During the event it has been presented the project to modernise NATO CIS systems, including classified VTC connection, hardware and connectivity services, which will increase interoperability among the MNCG and NATO Command Structure and NATO Force Structure units.
Rear Admiral Conti (Deputy Head of the III Department of the Defence Staff area DS-PA), chairman-in-chief of the Coordinating Committee, stressed the importance of always acting in the spirit of the Atlantic Alliance.
The MNCG Commander, Colonel Mattia Zuzzi expressed his thanks to all those who intervened remembering to mark everyone's action in a joint and combined perspective in order to "... always be ready, capable and efficient in any situation".
The meeting, conducted in line with ministerial guidelines related to the reduction of COVID-19 contagion, takes place twice a year with the aim of coordinating the efforts and common commitment of the six Nations representing the MNCG, towards the objectives and scenarios outlined by NATO.
