ADVANCED CIMIC TRAINING COMPLETED
Motta di Livenza, November 27, 2020.
In recent days the "Liaison" course, dedicated to students with previous experience and knowledge in the CIMIC sector has ended. The primary objective of the course was to increase the skills previously acquired and increase them with additional training modules to operate profitably in those multinational and multidimensional contexts that characterize the current operational scenarios of NATO.
The course, conducted from 23 to 27 November 2020, took place entirely online, thanks to the Moodle Armed Force platform, which allowed students from all over the world to be able to connect and interact with the instructors of the Multinational CIMIC Group.
The training module, based on an in-depth analysis of the professional profile, objectives and responsibilities of the CIMIC Liaison Officer, was conducted by providing insights related to communication skills, mediation aspects related to a given cultural context and providing "field experience" modules with the sharing of expertise gained over the years by CIMIC operators. The students were also involved in a series of role-playing games and syndicate consolidating the lessons in order to allow a subsequent analysis of the experiences, interpersonal dynamics, the methods of exercise of specific roles and, more generally, the communication processes developed in the context represented.
The "CIMIC Liaison Course", carried out entirely in English, allowed to qualify 34 students, including civilians and military.
During the course, Dr. Michael Pillinger, member of the International Organization for Migration, Dr. Zain Tayyeb, Humanitarian Affairs Officer of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, Dr. Marco Bassetti, communication expert and Dr. Stefano Zannini, Professor at LUISS University, delivered a lecture as guest speakers.
Nowadays CIMIC operators are employed in crisis areas where the Armed Forces are called to operate and this allows to obtain a virtuous cycle of teaching: to carry out in operation what has been studied in the classroom and teach in the classroom what is learned in operation to offer a training perfectly in line with current, changing and complex operational scenarios.
The Multinational CIMIC Group, which includes, among the contributing nations, beyond Italy, Greece, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia and Hungary, today represents a real pole of excellence for the training of operators acting in the delicate sector of civil-military cooperation.
