CONTAMINATED SURVIVAL CONCLUDED

La Comina, 2020, 3 July.

The complex and current crisis scenarios do not always allow us to operate in totally permissive environments. Multinational CIMIC Group (MNCG) soldiers trained in a highly realistic setting from June 29 to July 3. The exercise, called "Contaminated Survival 2020" was focused on developing communication and negotiation capabilities, planning Quick Impact Projects (QIP) and operating environment assessment by simulating a biologically contaminated scenario. A scenario, therefore, that is absolutely timely when you think about the health emergency due to the CoViD-19.

The operators had to develop the three CIMIC core functions, namely civil-military liaison, support the force and support to non-military actors present in a given Operating Theatre, implementing the restrictions, obligations and limitations provided by the exercise, in the presence of representatives of International, Government and Non-Governmental Organizations, impersonated by actors and specialists of the MNCG.

The aim of the "Contaminated Survival 2020" was therefore to establish and maintain full and effective cooperation between the deployed military force and the population, in order to create the necessary conditions to give the Commander the greatest moral, material and tactical advantages in relation to the political, economic, religious and social environment to conduct the operation in a biologically altered environment. CIMIC operator training is, in fact, necessarily conducted in 360 degrees and in such a way as to ensure the fulfillment of heterogeneous tasks, oriented to operate through the use of the so-called "comprehensive approach".

The operators of the Multinational CIMIC Group are currently employed in both international operations in Kosovo, Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Somalia, Djibouti, Niger, as well as EUNAVFORMED and “Strade Sicure” Operation.
